LABORATORIO DI MEMORIE
“ARCHIVIO MULTIMEDIALE DELLE VOCI”

The research, designed and coordinated by Professor Paolo Sorcinelli at the University of Bologna between 2004 and 2013, has been merged into the project “Laboratorio di Memorie – Archivio delle Voci”. (Lab of memories – Archive of voices).

In ten years about 700 oral testimonies have been collected from men and women who were born between 1905 and 1960 .
The initial phase of the research essentially concerned the Municipality of San Costanzo (PU) and has collected 120 “life stories”.
This study has made it possible to lead to the publication of two issues: “Let the Hills Breathe” -“LASCEREI RESPIRARE LE COLLINE” (2008) – “Memory of War (1940-1945)” - “LA MEMORIA DELLA GUERRA (1940-1945)” (2014).
The “Over ‘90” project involved nineteen persons, over 90 years old, both men and women, residing in the province of Pesaro-Urbino.

The remaining testimonies concern all Italian regions (with particular focus on Marche and Emilia Romagna). This section of testimonies has been collected by university students who took part in the workshop “Catch Stories” offered as part of the Social History courses.
In total, the Lab of Memories, comprises over 800 oral and video interviews, provided with transcriptions.

The Lab of Memories of San Costanzo was founded in March 2014 with 83 registered members.
The project aims to pursue the work that was begun and to organise multimedia archives of stories of life, in order to preserve memories of the community, generation after generation.
